HP Plotter Error Code Diagnosis and Troubleshooting

If you have an error coming up on your plotter and you’re not sure what it means, contact us and we’ll help diagnose the problem and quote you for repair.

Here is a list of the most common plotter error codes:

Error 03:10 – Plotter Power Supply Failure

The power supply has failed in your plotter. A replacement power supply (or PSU) will be required. We can fit this as part of a standard plotter repair.

A buzzing sound from the left hand side of the plotter indicates that the fan in the power supply needs attention. Failure to attend to the fan means that the whole power supply may fail resulting in a much more expensive repair bill. Immediate fan replacement will likely extend the plotters power supply life expectancy.

Error 21:10 – Plotter Service Station Failure

This could be one of a number of problems with your plotter:

  1. The service station motor steps counted may not be consistent with the current movement length.
  2. The limit has been reached by the aerosol fan inside the plotter.
  3. The might be a blockage affecting the service station motor.

The service station assembly may need to be replaced.

Error 22:10 – Plotter Ink Supply Station Failure

The ink supply station has a problem. It could be a simple case of resetting the plotter, which we can explain how to do, or it may require the ink supply station to be replaced.

Error 41:10 – Plotter Paper Axis Motor Failure

This problem is with the paper axis motor, possibly indicating X-Axis motor failure. A new axis motor maybe required but this is something that we can have a look at and advise.

Error 11:11 – Plotter Trailing Flat Cable Fault

There is a problem with the trailing flat cable of the Plotter. The flat cable runs from the print head of the plotter. Often this is because the cable is not connected properly or there could be a fault with the cable.

Error 56:10 – Plotter Drive Roller Encoder Error

There is a problem with the drive roller encoder sensor inside the plotter. You might be able to reset this by turning the plotter off, leaving it for one minute and then turning it back on again. If the error still comes up on the plotter, then it will require a service call.
